Character Name: Cloud Strife

Series: FFVII

Age: 21

Physical Description: Cloud stands at five feet, seven inches, and even a little taller because of his blond, spiky hair. Something to mention are his eyes, vivid blue eyes with a slight green glow. They are the mark of his old-life, before coming to live with the Lower Class. His face is usually stern, hardly ever showing off a happier side of himself.
His clothes are basic; Cloud wears them because that is what he could find; a black zip-up sweater, black leather pants, and a shoulder-pad over his left shoulder. On his hands he has driving gloves to protect them when riding his motorcycle. With him he carries his Buster Sword at all time, a large, heavy double-edged sword.
Personality: Cloud was never loved as a child. He grew up wanting to be an adult, yet never grew out of his childhood. As far as talking to people goes, he completely socially inept. He blurts out the first thing he thinks, usually with unintentionally hilarious bombs, such as saying “Let’s mosey,” considering the tough guy appearance he’s tried to build up.
From the beginning of his life Cloud wanted to be someone else, trying to change himself. His father, who he looked up to so much was that man. A great fighter, Cloud wanted to be him so much. He trained himself to his father’s son, trying to please his father in everyway.
However, that whole thing never worked out. His weakness caused a lot of problems between his father and himself. Cloud holds himself responsible for his incompetence, and bitter resents it. Growing up he got in fights all the time, his anger overflowing. When his outer tough guy façade breaks down, Cloud is just a social awkward guy who never got to live the life he should have.

Strengths: Cloud’s strength is actually also his greatest weakness: The need to always do the right thing. He will try anything once, no matter how weird, strange, or awkward, just to get ‘it’ right. He sometimes ends up on top, or loses everything. Yet, his need to do it right brings him back to try again.
The time he spent fighting and working off jobs he built up physical strength beyond most people. He carried around a sword that hardly anyone else can barely even lift. He has an iron resolve, but he blames himself too much when he fails.

Weaknesses: Cloud beats himself up constantly when he messes up. Even if it’s not his fault, he blames himself for his failure. He does most things in life just to prove himself. Ever since he was a child he was this way, changing himself to please others, and blaming himself for everyone of his shortcomings.
Besides the need to do everything right, Cloud has horrible social skills. He’s never had any friends, he always got in a fight with most people he met. He can barely even keep a conversation going, which gets rid of the need to say that he’s never had a girlfriend. He knows how to fight, that’s about it.

History: Cloud grew up outside the city of Azhun, in a mining village, not unlike many others. He never met his mother, but he looked up to his father as if he were a god. His father was just a miner like so many others, but in his child’s eyes he found no faults. Well, it was that way for a while.
At around age 12 Cloud wanted to work in the mines. He had grown up admiring his father and wanting to be just like him. And so his father got him a job at the mine, and they worked together. Which ended up being a bad idea.
His father never really loved his son, but he put up with the child because he had to. However, when Cloud went to work in the mines, his father gave up babying him. At age 12, Cloud really couldn’t handle this new pressure. His father worked him like a dog, yelling, screaming, pushing Cloud everyday still he broke down. Each day Cloud felt more like a failure, each time hating himself more. Carrying this weight with him as he worked did not help. His work began to get worse and his father was displeased.
Eventually Cloud’s father told his son the truth. Well, after the fifth or sixth time Cloud understood what his dad was trying to tell him: That he was worthless and would never amount to anything. Cloud got upset, like most 15 year olds probably would. His father was done with him, and told him to get. There was much yelling and fighting, and Cloud ended up leaving his childhood home with bruises and a broken heart.
He found himself in the lower class districts in the city, working odd jobs for money. He became a very angry teenager, angry at the world, his father and everyone else. Never once did he have a real friend. Each and everyday he would be involved in another fight. So that was how he spent his teen years, growing strong in fights and odd jobs, until he had enough money to find a place to stay. And then got a job working for some kind of crime syndicate.
None of it really matter to Cloud. He worked for money to eat, no more, no less. He didn’t care about his employer as long as he was getting paid well. And that is where this story really begins.
